Sofia Stemberga is a San Francisco native who developed a passion for volleyball during her middle school years. Her journey in the sport continued through high school at Capuchino High School, where she honed her skills and love for the game. Sofia also participated in club volleyball at Beach Vibes Volleyball Club, an organization run by Moroccan National Team players, which would have provided her with additional training and exposure to the sport.

After graduating from Capuchino High School, Sofia pursued her education while continuing to play volleyball. She attended the College of San Mateo, where she earned two Associate of Arts (AA) degrees - one in Communication and another in Business Administration. Following her time at CSM, she transferred to The Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she focused on a degree in Communications and Media Technology. At the Academy of Art University, Sofia currently plays NCAA Division II (DII) Volleyball as a right-side hitter. This experience allows her to compete at a higher level and contribute her knowledge to the game.

In addition to her playing career, Sofia has an extensive coaching background. She coached middle school volleyball at Parkside Intermediate School for two years and assisted with boys' high school volleyball at Capuchino for another two years. Sofia also coached club volleyball for multiple seasons, with her most recent coaching experience coming from her time at Encore Volleyball Club. Her coaching experience has included working with various age groups, ranging from the 12's to the 16's, which suggests her versatility and ability to adapt to different levels of players.

Outside of her involvement in volleyball, Sofia has other interests. She enjoys painting, which suggests a creative side to her personality, and values spending time with her family and friends. These outside interests help provide a well-rounded perspective to her life beyond the volleyball court.
